I recently spent some time comparing two of my favorite carry guns: the Sig Sauer P365X Macro and the Shadow Systems CR920P. Both are solid options, both are optics-ready, and both spend time in my carry rotation. The question is, if you could only choose one, which should it be?

Shooting Impressions
After putting several hundred rounds through both guns, I found myself naturally gravitating toward the P365X Macro.
The biggest reason was the grip. The longer grip makes drawing from concealment easier and gives me a more secure purchase on the gun immediately. It also holds 17 rounds without needing an extended magazine, which is hard to ignore for a carry gun.
That doesn't mean the CR920P is lacking. In fact, I actually thought the CR920P shot slightly flatter. The compensator does a great job, and recoil control was excellent throughout testing.
Timed Drills
I ran several drills, including:
- Draw to first shot
- Double taps
- El Presidente variations
- Reload drills
- Plate rack and malfunction clearing
The results consistently favored the P365X Macro.
The longer grip made reloads smoother and helped me get on target faster from concealment. During double taps, I also noticed I was generally more accurate with the Sig, although I couldn't say with certainty whether that was due to the grip, familiarity, or simply how the gun fits my hand.
The CR920P was still fast and easy to shoot, but the P365X Macro kept edging it out.
Which One Would I Choose?
If I had to pick one, I'd give the slight advantage to the Sig P365X Macro.
The combination of:
- 17-round capacity
- Longer grip
- Strong performance in timed drills
- Excellent shootability
makes it hard to beat.
That said, the CR920P is still an outstanding concealed carry pistol. It shoots incredibly flat, feels premium, and is a great option for someone who wants a slightly smaller package.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, there really isn't a wrong choice here. Both pistols performed well, both proved reliable, and both have earned a spot in my carry rotation.
The P365X Macro ended up being my favorite because of the grip and capacity, while the CR920P impressed me with how flat it shoots and how refined it feels.
My advice? If you're considering either one, rent them first and put some rounds through them. What works best for me might not be what works best for you.
